MyHealthIowa
We are excited to share that MyHealthIowa – MiSaludIowa is offering a new Community Health Navigator Training Program designed to empower community members with the knowledge and tools to promote chronic disease prevention and health equity across Iowa.
The initial training consists of two in-person sessions (3 hours each) and will cover the following key areas:
- Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes screening protocols
- Guidelines for establishing mobile health screening clinics
- Best practices for implementing a referral system to connect individuals to follow-up care
Our curriculum is evidence-based and adapted from the American Diabetes Association’s Prediabetes Prevention Program, ensuring that participants receive up-to-date, practical, and research-informed training.
Trainings are available in both English and Spanish, making them accessible to a wide range of community members. We also offer refresher courses for those who have already completed the initial training and wish to update or reinforce their skills.
This program is ideal for individuals passionate about serving their communities, including promotoras de salud, CHWs, volunteers, and others interested in public and community health.
