Registered Apprenticeship

The CHW Registered Apprenticeship program is available through the Iowa Chronic Care Consortium and is approved by the US Department of Labor. The CHW Registered Apprenticeship program requires a partnership between the employer and participating apprentice, and includes:

  • One year of on-the-job learning;
  • Completion of the CHW classroom training. The classroom training is delivered in a live, virtual format with weekly online classes for 23 weeks. In addition to the weekly class there are weekly assignments, including required reading, quizzes and other coursework.

Pricing

CHW Registered Apprenticeship with CHW Professional Skills Training – $2,500 per participant.
Special opportunities are available for Iowa residents and individuals employed in Iowa to receive a tuition waver and stipend support.

Accreditations

Successful completion of the CHW Registered Apprenticeship results in the award of a non-credit certificate from the Des Moines Area Community College, or other Iowa community college of choice, a competency certificate from the Iowa Chronic Care Consortium and a national credential as a Community Health Worker issued by the U.S. Department of Labor. Additionally, opportunities for CEUs and CMEs may be available to licensed healthcare professionals for this training.
